Laser Hair Removal

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

A concentrated beam of light is aimed at hair. The light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle, the energy is converted into heat, which damages the follicle enough to retard future growth without damaging the surrounding tissue. Lasers can remove hair for anywhere from several months to years, as the results differ widely from person to person.

Does It Hurt?

Most individuals experience no more than a slight stinging sensation as the laser pulses are applied. Our lasers have advanced cooling systems used to prevent overheating of the epidermis. Some parts of the body do tend to be more sensitive than others, and topical numbing is available.

Am I A Candidate For Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

Results depend on the color and thickness of your hair. Hair removal lasers work best on dark, coarse hair. Some with blonde, gray, or red body hair might not achieve desired results when undergoing laser hair removal. Lighter hair is more difficult to treat and will require more sessions. White or grey hair might be untreatable, as no pigment exists.

How Soon Will I Start To See Results?

After each laser treatment, hair will continue to grow out as if it were never treated. Typically this will occur for about 2-3 weeks and then that treated hair will simply begin to fall out. After the 3rd treatment, you will start to see a reduction of hair, but more dramatic results will be visible closer to the 6-8th treatment. Please note that not all hairs are created equal. Some hairs may need higher energy and continued treatments in order to treat resistant hair.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of treatments required for long-term benefits depends on the area being treated, your hair density, and the hair’s growth cycle. There are three phases of hair growth — Anagen (active), Catagen (regression) and Telogen (resting). Laser technology is designed to treat hair in the Anagen phase of growth. Additional factors, including age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism, influence hair growth and play a role in the location, thickness, and resilience of your hair.

Although each client is unique, experience tells us that you can expect an average of 6-8 treatments spaced 6 to 12 weeks apart, depending on the body location of the unwanted hair.

Should I Shave Before Session?

Unless otherwise stated by a technician, SHAVE the areas to be treated 24-72 hours before your appointment. If possible, exfoliate the area to remove any dead skin cells on the surface and it will help along the natural shedding process. The laser treatments will penetrate deeper and be more effective when there are no residual cells on the surface. The area to be treated should be freshly cleaned, left with no makeup, deodorant, lotions, creams, antiperspirants etc.

What Can I Expect Following A Session?

While laser hair removal is considered a safe treatment, there is a risk of burning. While the FDA adds that blistering, discoloration, redness, and scarring can be expected after a session. Some clients say it feels like tiny rubber bands hitting the skin but it doesn’t feel like that everywhere-only where the hair is thick and dense.

After your treatment and you come out looking like you just fell out of a beehive, you’re in great state. It’s called perifollicular edema, which is just a fancy way of saying swollen hair follicles. It means your treatment was successful. We advise our clients to expect up to 48 hours of redness, stinging, or itching-but more commonly these only last about an hour or two. Any longer than that and we recommend a hydrocortisone cream or Benadryl gel to alleviate any discomfort.

Scar & Stretch Mark Camouflaging

How does scar camouflaging work?

Using tattoo pigments, our technicians can recolor scars to more closely match your natural skin tone.

For every procedure, we take the time to make you as comfortable as possible. Our technician will apply a numbing cream before and during the treatment. We use pigments that are FDA-approved and made specifically for procedures performed on potentially sensitive areas. At DermaHealth, our goal is to give you the best and safest results possible.

We can also camouflage scars in areas where hair grows, such as the eyebrows, by mimicking the natural fall of hair. This also works for scars on the scalp after an accident or hair transplant procedure.

Is this treatment safe?

Cosmetic professionals who knows where safety is met with educational requirements and technical ability standards perform the procedures. You can feel confident knowing your technician is held in high regard by both the medical community and the beauty industry.

What are the benefits of skin camouflaging?

Unfortunately, we do live in a society that frequently stigmatizes anything deemed ‘different’. This means that people who live with noticeable differences also commonly live with prejudice, intrusive stares, inappropriate questioning, name-calling and even sometimes physical abuse. It is for this reason that many choose to hide their conditions with skin camouflage.

People choose to have skin camouflage because it enables them to:

  • Avoid extra attention
  • No longer feel defined by their altered image
  • Blend into the crowd when they want to
  • Feel more confident

Skin camouflage offers a simple solution to complex problems – its role immediately after diagnosis or at a later date can help clients regain their confidence and self-esteem and allow them to return to normal life.

What is a stretch mark? Why do they happen?

A stretch mark is a tear in the skin caused by breaking down collagen fibers. They are caused by genetics, dryness, lack of hydration and moisturization.

Do I qualify for stretch mark camouflaging?

Anyone with striations of any size that look white and exaggerates the contrast with their skin color qualifies for the procedure.

A consultation is required before we can treat you to evaluate the area.

How many sessions do I need?

This treatment can be done in one session. However, some cases may need a touch-up. The procedure can last anywhere from 45 minutes on, this all depends on the size of the area you would like to work on.

Microblading & Ombre Brows

What is eyebrow microblading?

Unlike an eyebrow pencil that you wipe off at night before you go to sleep, eyebrow microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo procedure where a special handheld microblading eyebrow pen is used to draw on strokes that mimic the appearance of real brow hairs.

Who should consider microblading?

While there are thousands of eyebrow products on the market, those that tend to opt for microblading want fuller, natural-looking eyebrows but don’t want the hassle of filling them in every single morning, or the worry that the pigment won’t last all day. If you benefit from a brow pencil, then you will definitely benefit from microblading without a doubt.

However, if you are pregnant or have any medical contraindications you should not microblade your eyebrows.

How long does microblading last?

Since this is a semi-permanent method, not forever, but way longer than your waterproof eyebrow gel, that’s for sure! In fact, microblading can last anywhere from one to three years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, and the products that you use.

However, touch-ups are commonly needed about once a year, especially for those with oily skin, as the ink tends to fade and blur faster.

What happens during a microblading appointment?

We like to follow the direction of the natural brow hairs and take into consideration the client’s face symmetry and age so, after the area is sanitized and numbed, we consult with you on the eyebrow shape that will be drawn on to ensure your satifaction. Then with you on the pigment of the ink, which is chosen based off of the natural color of the brow hairs and the skin’s undertone.

Then, we move onto drawing the strokes in using the microblading pen, which can take anywhere from 30-40 minutes, depending on the eyebrow area. After the eyebrows are finished, we apply an aftercare ointment to help healing and a follow-up appointment is scheduled for four to six weeks later. At this appointment, we are able to tweak the final result if needed.

What is the after care like?

Since this is a semi-permanent tattoo method, proper after-care is essential to ensurring the results of your treatment. To prevent blurring or fading, we suggests keeping them dry from water and sweat for a week or longer, and to refrain from wiping. We also recommend applying an ointment once a day to speed up healing.

Right after the treatment is done, the brows will be darker and slightly red, but the redness and the pigment will fade in color as the brows heal. Besides them being darker while healing there isn’t any major side effects, however, infection is always possible if you don’t take care of them and don’t follow proper aftercare. If you follow the proper after-care then chances of infection happening are slim to none.

Lash Lifting & Tinting

Is this safe for my lashes?

This is a healthy alternative to eyelash extensions or fake lashes Hypoallergenic and enriches your lashes with keratin vitamins.

How long will my lash lift last?

Your procedure should last anywhere between 8-12 weeks, however, every client’s results can slightly vary.

*We encourage our clients to come back 12 weeks after your original lash lift appointment in order to maintain your lifted lashes and keep your fresh-faced look!

What's the difference between a session & a treatment plan?

After a session, it looks like you have a really great mascara on, even when you go into the water you can rub your eyes, wear makeup, and your natural lashes aren’t impacted. A Lash Lift can last 8-12 weeks but can vary from person to person.

All the hairs have now been shaped to be lifted and as they shed naturally, a straight one will grow in behind it. Some people need them sooner, some need them longer it just depends on the lash cycle.

Our Treatment Plan consists of 3 sessions, you can come back after the 12th week for another session and come back again after the 12th week of the 2nd session.

Who is a good candidate for for a lash lift & tint?

Eyelash Lift & Tint IS NOT suitable for clients that:

  • Are pregnant.
  • Have very few natural eyelashes or have none. The gaps will be more pronounced
  • Have pre-existing eye(lid) ailments such as chronic dry eye, blepharitis, conjunctivitis and ocular rosacea

  • Have extremely delicate eyes or allergies (advised to schedule an appointment for a patch test)
  • Undergoing chemo treatments or have had chemo treatments within the past year (suggested to discuss it with your physician)

Will the lash lift damage my natural lashes?

Big fat NO! Vanity Laser has properly trained and skilled specialists to ensure proper lash lift procedures are followed.

What is the after care like?

Keeping your lashes lifted & beautiful after your procedure is very simple, yet highly important in order to achieve maximum results! What do I do after a lash lift?

  • Keep your lashes completely dry and avoid touching them for 24 – 48 hours. This will ensure that your newly lifted and tinted lashes will keep their shape and color.
  • Eye makeup should be minimal to none during the first 48 hours.
  • Avoid swimming, or washing/showering close to your eye area.

How long should I get a lash lift or tint?

A lash lift will start to naturally fall after 2 months following their natural look. Don’t worry, they should drop fairly. You can return for another treatment after one month if you feel you need to, or when they are back to their natural state.

Can I wear mascara on my lash extensions?

Absolutely, yes! But give it at least 24 hours after your treatment. You may notice that there is no need for mascara anyway. If you want to make your lashes even fuller, a non-waterproof mascara is recommended as the elimination of waterproof mascaras can be harsh on the lashes and weaken the lift.
